Rich, custardy, perfectly cooked French Toast is a snap to make in your air fryer! Air Fryer French Toast will be a family favorite, and it's easy enough to make on even the busiest mornings.
Add the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and salt to a mixing bowl.
Whisk until combined.
Dip the slices of bread in the mixture, on both sides, dripping off any excess mixture.
Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray to prevent the bread from sticking. Place the bread in the air fryer basket in a single layer. If need be, cook in two batches.
Air fry at 350°F/280°C for 6-8 minutes, flipping the bread halfway through. The bread should be golden and no wet mixture should remain.
Serve with fresh berries and maple syrup or your favorite toppings.
Notes
Choose the right bread. While you can technically make French toast out of any kind of bread, I think the best type is a heavy, dense loaf like Italian bread or a large French baguette sliced diagonally. Brioche and Challah also make delicious French toast.
Adjust as needed. Since all bread is different and all air fryers cook a little bit differently, you may find that you need more or less time to cook this recipe. Always keep an eye on your food as it cooks!
Feel free to use slightly old bread. While you don't want to use totally stale bread for French toast, this is a great way to revive bread that is just past its prime.
Dip quickly! Oversaturating the bread with the egg and milk mixture can cause it to turn mushy.
You may need to air fry french toast in batches so that you can cook each piece without overfilling the basket.
If you are cooking your French toast in batches do not dip the bread until it's ready to be cooked. It will get too soggy while you wait.
Also, if you are cooking in batches, you can reheat the first batch of French toast in the air fryer for 2 minutes so that everything is hot at the same time.
