However, this is not a sponsored review. We bought this air fryer with our own money, and all opinions are our own.
We recently picked up the Ninja Double Stack air fryer to see how it compares to others on the market. With its sleek design and double-stack functionality, it seemed like it could be a game changer!
In this review, we’ll walk you through our experience with its features, the pros and cons we noticed, and whether it could be a good fit for your kitchen. This is just our honest take after putting it to the test.
Initial Impressions
We purchased our Double stack at Walmart and it immediately stood out from all the other air fryers on the display shelf. It looks…well, sleek. It looks like a premium appliance that would be right at home next to a KitchenAid mixer or a fancy Expresso machine.
Ninja air fryers usually have a premium look to them, but I think they really scored with the double stack.
In fact – we don’t feel like we need to hide it under the counter after each use.
It’s also big! But not too big. The double-stack design is pretty compact and, in my opinion, much better than previous designs like the Ninja DZ201 Foodi.
Dimensions 📏
At first, we were worried that the Double Stack wouldn’t fit under our over-counter cabinets. It’s a bit on the heavy side and would be a pain to slide it out from under the cabinets every time we use it.
However, once we got everything unboxed it fit perfectly!
The whole unit is about 15 inches tall and 16 in deep, so if you have standard above-counter cabinets it will fit fine!
Key Features 🎉
Doublestack Design
Ninja hit the nail on the head with the double-stack design. It really is nice to have the extra capacity and you’ll end up cooking things that you never would have in a single air fryer. It really does make it easy to cook entire meals in the air fryer.
In fact, we haven’t turned on our oven in the 3 weeks since we got our double stack! Maybe to cook a frozen pizza, but that wouldn’t have fit in the air fryer anyway.
Match Cook/Smart Finish
The Match Cook and Smart Finish features are helpful if you’re cooking a main dish in one basket and a side in the other. It makes the whole meal prep process easier and simpler.
Here’s how they work:
Match Cook – Select the time/temp for the top basket and press the “Match Cook” button to sync the lower basket to match. It works well if you’re cooking two entrees like two large Salmon Fillets.
Smart Finish – Select different time/temps for each basket and the “Smart Finish” button will automatically adjust so each basket finishes at the same time. This works well if you have a fast-cooking item like chicken nuggets in one basket and something that takes longer in the other – like frozen broccoli.
What We Like 😊
👍 Premium look and feel
Let’s be honest, a lot of air fryers look and feel…well, cheap. It’s probably one of the reasons that some people consider air fryers to be a gimmick or kitchen “hack” However, the Ninja Double Stack looks and feels like a quality kitchen appliance.
Sure it’s more expensive than most air fryers, but it’s still not bad for a device that essentially replaces your oven and cooks things in 1/2 the time.
👍 Side vents
We put our double stack in the corner of our counter – up against a wall. We were initially concerned that we would need to slide it out from the corner to keep it from getting too hot.
However, it actually vents hot air down and to the side – away from the wall and cabinets. It’s a small thing, but very nice if you’re used to the way some other air fryers work.
👍 Excellent User Manual
The user manual is very easy to understand and follow. It has a lot of example meal ideas that walk you through the process of using all the functions.
The manual also has plenty of sample recipes to get you started if you’re new to air frying.
What We Don’t Like 😞
These are far from complaints – more like nitpicks. However, here are the things that have stood out so far.
👎Overly Loud Beeping
The Ninja Double Stack makes a loud beeping sound when you press the Start button and when it’s done cooking.
It’s not too bad, but it seems louder than it needs to be and it’s much louder than a microwave or oven timer. We haven’t found a way to turn it down yet.
👎Control Menu
The control menu is not as intuitive as it could be – especially if you’re using the match cook or Smart Finish functions.
We had to refer to the manual the first few times we used it, so make sure you don’t throw it away! Thankfully, the manual is very easy to understand.
Also, we’re not a huge fan of the buttons on the control panel. They make a cheap-feeling click sound when pressed and I’m not sure how they’ll hold. Time will tell!
Should you buy it?
Overall, the Ninja Double Stack air fryer has really impressed us! Its sleek, high-end look fits right in on our countertop, and we’ve found ourselves using it almost every day since we got it.
The double-stack design is a total game-changer—you can cook entire meals without even thinking about turning on the oven.
Sure, the beeping is a little louder than we’d like, and the control panel could be more intuitive, but those are pretty minor issues in the grand scheme of things.
If you’re looking for an air fryer that can (almost) replace your oven, the Ninja Double Stack is definitely worth checking out!
Is it safe to put on a quartize worktop.
Hi Lynda,
Kenny here 👋 I wrote this review. I’ve had it on my quartzite counter top for a few months now with no issues. I plan to to an update to this review in the near future, but overall it’d been a very positive experience and I would buy it again. Hope that helps!
