Apples and Autumn just seem to go hand in hand, donโ€™t they? Thereโ€™s just something so comforting about a delicious apple dish that makes my heart (and of course my tummy!) smile this time of year! Air Fryer Apple Roses definitely do not disappoint on that score!

Here’s what You’ll Need

A vertical photo showing the ingredients required for air fryer apple roses. Puff pastry sheets, apples, lemon, sugar and cinnamon
  • Red Fuji apples – Or your favorite type! I just love the crispness of this variety!
  • Lemon juice – Infuse your apple slices with a little acidity
  • Puff pastry sheets – Perfect for making this recipe as quick & easy as possible!
  • Flour to sprinkle – Just a little, to prevent your pastry sheets from sticking!
  • Ground Cinnamon – Cinnamon sugar! YUM!
  • Powdered sugar for decorating – Make your roses look extra cute & sweet!
  • Honey drizzle – Totally optional! Gives another level of sweet flavor

Serving Ideas

These delicious apple roses are best served warm, and are a little bit like apple pie! Top with whipped cream (as mentioned above), maple syrup, caramel sauce, even ice creamโ€ฆthe options are endless!

While your apple roses are cooking, why not grab your mixer and whip up some Pumpkin Whipped Cream? This is not an air fryer recipe, but I promise you – it is definitely worth a mention, and one that I would definitely serve up with your roses, and it only takes 5 minutes!

Storing leftovers

You can store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days in the fridge.ย

When you are ready to reheat, remove them from the fridge and air fry at 350ยบF/176ยบC for around 3 minutes.

Need to freeze these for later?

Absolutely! BUT, they freeze better UNbaked, so complete all steps up to the actual cooking part, then place them in airtight containers. You can then freeze for up to 3 months!

Once you are ready to enjoy your apple roses, remove them from the freezer and allow them to thaw in the fridge overnight. Once the roses are thawed, simply cook as directed in the recipe card below!

Air Fryer Apple Roses

Air Fryer Apple Roses are a delicious treat any time of the year! If you have apples needing to be used up, then this recipe is just what you are looking for!

Servings: 12 Roses

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 3 Crisp Apples I use Red Fuji
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • Puff Pastry 2 sheets
  • Flour to sprinkle over your work surface or board
  • 3 tbsp Ground Cinnamon
  • Powdered Sugar for decorating
  • Honey to drizzle (optional)

Instructions

  • Take all of your apples and slice them in half. Core out the middle to remove the seeds. Slice them as thin as possible and place in a large microwavable bowl.ย
  • Add to your bowl your lemon juice and fill enough water to cover your apple slices so that they float.
  • Place in the microwave for three minutes or until the slices are soft and pliable. While your apple slices are in the microwave, prepare your working station by lightly flouring a flat surface. This can be a clean kitchen counter, or large cutting board.
  • Layout one pastry sheet and roll it with a rolling pin just a couple of times. Enough to evenly flatten your sheets. Cut your pastry sheet into six slices.
  • Remove your apples from the microwave and drain the water from the bowl using a colander.Taking one of the six slices of your pastry sheet, place an apple slice horizontally with the round part (skin) just outside the edge of the pastry sheet. Take your next apple slice and continue the same thing but overlap your apple slice slightly. Continue until all of your pastry sheet is lined with apple slices. Sprinkle with 1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon powder.
  • Take the bottom part of your pastry sheet and fold up to line itself with the pastry sheet underneath. In a sense you are folding the pastry sheet in half over the apple slices.
  • Roll your pastry sheet and apple slices, and slightly pinch the ends.

  • Place in your silicone cupcake liners and put in your air fryer.Repeat steps 7-10 until you have made all 12 roses, or until you can fit as many in your air fryer. My air fryer is a 6 quart and fits 4 to 6 comfortably. You can choose to make all of the roses at once and then cook a few, or make a few roses, cook those and continue to prepare more.
  • Cook at 375ยฐF for 7 minutes or until the dough is fully baked.
  • Remove from the air fryer and serve warm. Lightly dust with powdered sugar. For an extra dose of sweetness, drizzle with honey, or agave!

Notes

Pro Tip: This recipe can be made in the air fryer unit with a basket or the air fryer oven. If you are using the air fryer oven, use the middle rack and select the “Air Fry” function.
Pro Tip: Check your food as it cooks. Each air fryer runs a bit differently. Sometimes airfrying is a trial and error process. Check your food as it cooks to learn your air fryer better!ย  When cooking a new recipe or food items be sure to check your food often to help avoid over/under cooking.
