Ingredients You’ll Need

vertical photo of air fryer beef and broccoli ingredients: thinly sliced steak, broccoli florets, soy sauce, water, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, sriracha, olive oil and cornstarch
  • Soy sauce – The ultimate salty, umami flavor enhancer, soy sauce is the base of most Chinese dishes.
  • Water – For our sauce, a bit of water helps to blend everything together.
  • Sesame oil – Regular sesame oil or toasted sesame oil gives a nutty flavor.
  • Garlic, minced – Fresh, minced garlic gives the sauce a lovely flavor.
  • Grated ginger – Run ginger through a fine grater or micro plane to get a paste and release all the flavor.
  • Sriracha – Optional, but we’re a big fan of this stuff at my house!
  • Flank or strip steak, thinly sliced – A good quality steak is needed here to get the best from the recipe.
  • Broccoli florets – Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets before starting.
  • Olive oil – To help the broccoli get crispy in the air fryer, a small amount of oil does the trick.
  • Cornstarch – Used often in Asian cooking, cornstarch acts as a thickener for sauces and a crispy breading for meat and vegetables.

6 step collage picture on how to make air fryer beef and broccoli
  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, water, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and sriracha (if using).
  2. Place the steak in a shallow bowl and pour half the sauce over it. Reserve the other half of the sauce for later.  Cover and let marinate in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  3. Place the marinated steak into the air fryer basket and cook as directed in the recipe card below.
  4. Toss the broccoli and olive oil together and add it to the basket (on top of the steak). Continue to cook as directed below in the recipe card.
  5. Add the cornstarch to the reserved sauce and microwave it for 1 minute. Whisk to combine and microwave for an additional minute. The sauce should have thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon – if it is too thick, add a splash of water. If it is too thin, cook it for an additional minute.
  6. Pour the finished sauce over the cooked beef and broccoli and enjoy. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onion, if desired. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheating leftovers

Once fully defrosted in the fridge or in cold water (remembering to keep it in an airtight container), simply microwave to your desired heat and serve immediately.
