AIR FRYER RAVIOLI RECIPE

Deep fried, breaded ravioli are a favorite appetizer at Italian restaurants, and now you can make air fryer ravioli at home with just a few simple ingredients.

These air fried ravioli are crunchy on the outside and soft and cheesy on the inside with a flavorful breadcrumb crust.

You’ll love these dipped into marinara sauce as a snack or a simple meal.

INGREDIENTS IN AIR FRYER RAVIOLI

Bread Crumbs – Use whatever type you have at home, but regular, plain breadcrumbs work best for this recipe.

Italian Seasoning – This blend of herbs, spices and salt goes perfectly with the ravioli and adds the right about of flavor.

Eggs – Beaten eggs help the breadcrumbs stick to the ravioli in the air fryer.

Frozen Ravioli – Thaw your ravioli before cooking. I find they thaw the best in the fridge overnight.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER RAVIOLI

  1. Gather all your ingredients. Put the eggs in their own shallow bowl and whisk them. Put the bread crumbs into a shallow bowl and mix with spices.
  2. Dredge the thawed ravioli through the egg mixture.
  3. Then dredge the egg-coated ravioli into the bread crumbs. Flip and cover both sides.
  4. Place breaded ravioli into the air fryer basket or tray. Air Fry as directed in the recipe below.
  5. Flip the breaded ravioli mid way through. If the bread crumbs are not crisping up, you can spritz with oil.
  6. Optionally: garnish with chopped fresh basil and serve with marinara sauce.

CAN I AIR FRY FRESH RAVIOLI?

I created this recipe to air fry frozen ravioli because for me they are easier to find at the store and generally less expensive. Frozen ravioli usually come in either cheese or beef flavors, and both work well in this recipe.

You can absolutely use fresh ravioli to make this recipe though. Fresh ravioli sometimes come in really fun flavors like mushroom or seafood that would be really interesting.

CAN I AIR FRY RAVIOLI WITHOUT BREADING?

I haven’t tried this yet, but I suppose you could. Without the breading it would be difficult to get any seasoning onto the ravioli, so I really recommend trying this recipe as written, with the breadcrumbs, for best results.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO COOK FROZEN RAVIOLI?

The instructions on the package call for boiling and/or pan frying frozen ravioli, but since I started using my air fryer I haven’t cooked them any other way than this. Air fryer ravioli are just that good. I can’t go back to the old way!

Notes

  • Pro Tip: This recipe can be made in the air fryer unit with a basket or the air fryer oven. If you are using the air fryer oven, use the middle rack and select the “Air Fry” function.
  • Do not let your ravioli touch each other or they will stick together.
