Are Shishito peppers hot?
These little green peppers are actually quite mild.
When they are cooking up in the air fryer, I feel that the give off the smell similar to a jalapeno, but the taste is much milder.
Shishito Peppers are on the low end of the heat scale, so to speak.
They say roughly 1 in 10 peppers is spicy.
How to cook shishito peppers in an air fryer
- Remove the peppers from the packaging. Wash peppers and remove any unwanted pieces. Gently spritz the peppers with spray oil.
- Put washed peppers into the air fryer basket.
- Air Fry the peppers at 390F/198C for 6 minutes. You will hear popping sounds in the air fryer, it is just the peppers expanding.
- Remove peppers from basket. Season with salt and serve with a dipping sauce.
I would suggest serving this peppers with a dipping sauce.
I personally love to dip mine into coconut aminos or gluten-free soy sauce.
