AIR FRYER BAGELS RECIPE

Create homemade bagels using only flour, Greek yogurt, egg wash, and your seasoning of choice. That’s it! This recipe uses self-rising flour that will give your bagels a fluffy texture and helps them to rise without the use of yeast. This allows us to make these bagels in only 15 minutes.

One of my favorite breakfasts as a kid growing up was a simple bagel with cream cheese. But the process of making bagels the authentic way can be a bit tedious, so we knew we needed to create a simpler version. And this recipe delivers!

And because these can be made in such a short amount of time, this gives you an opportunity to make a Pumpkin Spice Latte at home and skip the drive through all together.

Or make a full breakfast to accompany your bagels with Air Fryer Sausage Patties and Air Fryer Bacon.

INGREDIENTS FOR AIR FRYER BAGELS

Self-Rising Flour – Self-rising flour is simply all-purpose flour that has salt and baking powder added to it. You can make your self-rising flour but you cannot substitute only all-purpose flour in this recipe.

Greek Yogurt – Greek yogurt helps add moisture and activates the leavening agents in the self-rising flour. Again– do not substitute another yogurt! Plain Greek yogurt is what you want.

Egg Wash – An egg wash helps the bagels brown and helps the seasonings stick to the bagels.

Seasonings – For the seasonings– feel free to use as much or as little as you like. You can use any seasonings you like in this recipe, like sesame seeds, poppy seeds, coarse salt, or our favorite, everything bagel seasoning.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER BAGELS

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 4 pieces.
  3. Roll each piece into a smooth log and then shape it into a circle.
  4. Pinch the seams to seal the dough together (so it doesn’t lose its shape while cooking).
  5. Place as many bagels as will fit into your air fryer (they will increase in size slightly so don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket). Brush the bagels with egg wash and then sprinkle with your seasoning of choice.
  6. Cook the bagels as directed, or until they are golden brown on the outside and fully cooked on the inside.
  7. Allow the bagels to cool before slicing – this will prevent them from becoming gummy in the center.
  8. Serve with your favorite bagel toppings and enjoy.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH AIR FRYER BAGELS

You can’t go wrong with a simple cream cheese spread, but we also love to use them to make an egg and cheese sandwich. They are perfect served alongside an Oat Milk Latte or Spirulina Smoothie.

Air Fryer Bagel FAQs

Do Air Fryer Bagels Require Yeast?

These bagels do not require yeast. The self-rising flour in this recipe contains baking powder and salt which gives these bagels their fluffy crumb.

Can I Save Leftover Air Fryer Bagels?

Of course. Store any leftover bagels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. Or store them in the freezer in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Allow the bagels to come to room temperature before toasting if frozen.

Can You Toast Bagels in the Air Fryer?

Definitely! Just slice them in half and place them in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 400°F/200°C until golden and toasty.
