These tasty and simple, classic Air Fryer Chocolate Chip Cookies are sweet, and crispy, and cook in just 8 minutes in the air fryer.
recipe overview
I just love a nice chocolate chip cookie! I think they may just be the perfect sweet snack: sweet, crispy, chewy, chocolatey, and buttery, all in one handheld dessert.
Making cookies in the air fryer is so simple. I love how I can make air fryer cookies without needing to heat up the whole kitchen.
If you’re baking for just one or two people, air-frying cookies is the way to go. You can bake just the number of cookies that you need at a time, and enjoy freshly baked cookies whenever you like.
This air fryer chocolate chip cookie recipe uses simple-to-find, familiar ingredients to create the perfect cookie with crispy edges and a chewy center.
what you’ll need
- Flour – All-purpose flour is exactly the thing needed to make these easy cookies.
- Baking Soda – This helps the cookies to rise and creates a beautiful texture.
- Salt – Just a bit goes into most of my baking recipes. Salt helps to balance the sweetness.
- Butter – I use salted butter for chocolate chip cookies because I like the extra bit of saltiness, plus I always have that version of butter in my fridge.
- Sugar – White sugar adds sweetness and crispness to cookies.
- Brown Sugar – A mix of both white and brown sugar gives these cookies their caramelly flavor and crisp/chewy texture.
- Vanilla – A good quality vanilla extract really gives these cookies an amazing flavor, and they’ll smell so good while air frying.
- Eggs – Eggs bind all of the ingredients together.
- Chocolate Chips – For a classic chocolate chip cookie flavor, choose semi-sweet baking chips.
how to make them
- In a medium bowl, mix flour with baking soda and salt. Mix well and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, add brown sugar, sugar, and softened butter and mix until creamy. Then add the eggs and vanilla and mix until well combined.
- Slowly add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture. Then add the chocolate chips and mix again until well combined.
- Prepare the air fryer basket by covering the bottom with foil and spraying the foil with oil. Preheat the air fryer.
- Using a small cookie scoop, scoop out cookie dough. Roll each scoop into an even ball and place it in the air fryer basket. Make sure to leave room around each cookie for expansion.
- Air fry at 300ยฐ for 8 minutes. Once done, allow cookies to rest in the air fryer basket for 5 minutes and remove to a baking rack for further cooling. For thinner cookies, press down the cookies with a spoon before they are cooled. Continue cooking the remaining cookie dough.
add-ins to try
- Other Chips – Use white chocolate, milk chocolate, or any of the other fun baking chips you can find at the store to add different flavors and colors to these cookies.
- Different Chocolate – Using chopped chocolate bars rather than chocolate chips will give you a more chocolatey and rustic-looking cookie. Experiment with your favorites.
- Something Crunchy – Try stirring a handful of crunchy cereal like rice krispies or cornflakes into your cookie dough for a surprising texture.
- Nuts – a half cup of chopped walnuts, almonds, or pecans would be delicious in these air fryer cookies. Toast your nuts before adding them for extra flavor.
- Other Flavors – Cinnamon can be added to the dough to add a bit of warmth. You can also consider substituting half of the vanilla extract with another extract, such as almond or rum extract.
serving tips
A warm air fryer chocolate chip cookie is perfect with a glass of cold milk or a coffee! Try an Iced Chai Tea Latte or some Mason Jar Cold Brew for an extra pick me up.
Serve cookies next to a table of appetizers for a party or gathering. Air Fryer Meatballs, Air Fryer Buffalo Cauliflower, and Air Fryer Calamari are some of my absolute favorite Air Fryer snacks.
storing extra dough
This dough will stay in the fridge for up to 5 days if stored in an airtight container. Feel free to bake up fresh cookies whenever the mood strikes!
Air fryer chocolate chip cookie dough can also be frozen. I suggest freezing in portioned balls. Allow dough to thaw before air frying.
