Getting familiar with air fryer sizes

There are so many brands of air fryers out there as well as different models. So before you buy that new kitchen appliance we want to make sure that you pick the right one! To help make it easier, we have broken it all down for you in this post! With over 100 air fryer model options out there, it can be confusing. But we will help you figure out the correct small air fryer that is right for you!

Air Fryers are generally not labeled as “small” or “large” They are labeled with quarts (here in the US) so we are going to stick with that for this article. This article is written based on air fryers available in the United States. Other countries may vary slightly and those air fryers will also probably be measured in liters, not quarts.

The most common air fryer sizes are 2 quart to 6 quart.  And even up to 13+ quarts for large air fryers. But today, we are focusing on the small air fryer, so we are going to look at 1-3 quarts in size!

This information is based on the research that we have done in our test kitchens here in the US and around the globe! It also takes into consideration the opinions of our air fryer community which is over 860,000 global air fryer friends!

things to take into consideration

Smaller air fryers take up less space e in your cabinet or on your counter. They’re also great for taking along when camping. But let’s break it down further!

How many are you cooking for?

If you are cooking for 1 person or just want to heat up snacks for 1-2 people, then a small 1-3 quart air fryer might be all you need.

So along those lines you would be looking at making a single frozen burger in air fryer,  a couple of handfuls of air fryer tater tots or a couple of handfuls of frozen sweet potato fries. Also worth noting this is a great size for reheating leftovers!

How much space do you have?

A bonus with a small air fryer or a medium air fryer is that you do not have to sacrifice a lot of counter space. Typically, kitchens are full of appliances, and adding a big appliance might not be a feasible option for some. Counter space comes at a premium, so we need to choose wisely.

Tips for Choosing the Right Air Fryer Size

  1. Consider what you want to make
  2. Consider how many people you are cooking for.
  3. Consider available counterspace
  4. Always size up – get one size bigger than you “think” you will need
  5. Your budget
