What You’ll Need

  • Flour: regular all-purpose or gluten-free will do.
  • Baking soda
  • Salt
  • Butter: Let it soften to room temperature beforehand
  • Peanut butter: I prefer smooth peanut butter, but no judgment if you prefer crunchy!
  • Brown sugar
  • Sugar
  • Egg
  • Milk: dairy or non-dairy will do

How to Make Them

steps to make cookies in the air fryer

Choose your own milk here — dairy isn’t required.

  1. Mix together your all-purpose flour and baking soda. Regular or gluten-free flour works in this recipe!
  2. In a second bowl, mix together the softened butter and peanut butter — you may want to get out your electric mixer here! Once mixed, add the sugars.
  3. Add your egg and the milk and mix before slowly adding the flour and baking soda. Mix to combine into your dough. Form the dough into balls, about a tablespoon each, and use a fork to smash the top.
  4. Place the cookies into your air fryer basket and cook for 6 to 7 minutes at 350 degrees F (or 180 degrees C!) until golden brown. Allow your cookies to cool completely before serving for a solid, crunchy cookie. Enjoy!

How to Freeze Them

These cookies are perfect for making ahead and freezing them for later!

Here’s how:

  1. Form cookies with your fork and move them to parchment paper to freeze.
  2. Once frozen, these raw cookies can last a few months in the freezer.
  3. Thaw them before baking if you have time or, if not, add a few minutes to the cook time and check them every 5 minutes.

Variations to Try

I use creamy peanut butter, but if you like crunchy, use that! You may end up with less perfectly smooth dough but you’ll get an extra crunch in every bite!

  • Add in some nuts like walnuts or pecans.
  • Love chocolate? So does peanut butter! Throw in a few chocolate chips, the smaller the better.
  • Make it an even more fall recipe with cinnamon chips instead of chocolate!

For any additions, gently fold them into the dough in the final step to keep them from sinking to the bottom during baking.

  4. Can you use natural peanut butter instead of creamy? And would it make the cookies less dry?? Going to make these today!

    1. Hello Jeanne! I think natural should work. If the consistency of the dough seems try you could add 1 T of liquid (milk) to help. You could adjust accordingly :). I haven’t tried with natural so I can’t speak with certainly but that is how I think it would work 🙂
