Can I Air Fry Frozen Pizza?

Yes! The air fryer can cook anything that you would normally cook in a conventional oven, with a few important considerations when it comes to frozen pizza:

  1. If it fits, it cooks! Using the air fryer to make frozen pizza works best for small, personal-sized pizzas. Large round pizzas simply won’t fit in a standard air fryer basket. Oven-style air fryers will be able to cook larger pizzas than basket-style ones.
  2. You may need to get creative. If you want to cook a large pizza in the air fryer but it doesn’t quite fit, Cut it up first!
  3. Cook in Batches. You can always cook part of the pizza and then cook the rest of it in a second batch. Since it only takes 6-8 minutes to cook pizza in the air fryer, you’ll still have dinner ready fast

Notes

  • The size of your air fryer basket will determine how big of a pizza you can fit in your air fryer.
  • The temperature and time is based on a personal pizza, about 5-6 inches in diameter.
  • Start checking your pizza at the 6 minute mark and continue cooking, checking every 1-2 minutes, until the cheese is melted.
  • If you are using the air fryer oven, use the middle rack and select the “Air Fry” function.
  • Pro Tip: Check your food as it cooks. Each air fryer runs a bit differently. Sometimes air frying is a trial and error process.

Can I cook a full-size pizza in an air fryer?

In a basket-style air fryer, you should be able to fit most personal-sized pizzas that are 5-6 inches in diameter. If you’d like to cook a family-size pizza in the air fryer, you will need to cut it into pieces.

Ooops! I burned the top of the pizza!

here are a few ways that you can help to avoid this for next time though:
1. Spray a light amount of oil on the top of the pizza before cooking. This will help protect the toppings, and they will cook rather than burn.
2. Place foil over the pizza for the last few minutes of cook time. This will keep the heat from burning the toppings while the crust gets more time to crisp up.
3. Add some fresh veggies like sliced tomatoes or onions to the frozen pizza. Not only will you get extra flavor, but the moisture from the veggies will keep the top of the pizza from burning. It’s a win-win!
Finally, you can reduce the temperature of the air fryer. Some air fryers just cook hotter than others! Reduce the temperature to 360°F/180°C and try again.
