recipe overview

This is a healthy dish that will satisfy a craving for french fries, but with way less oil and fewer carbs too. Carrot fries are very similar to sweet potato fries. They even taste very similar, but making air fryer carrot fries is healthier than any potato option.

If you’ve ever roasted carrots in the oven or in your air fryer, you know that they take on a completely different flavor. Boiled carrots are mushy and bland. Roasted or air-fried carrots will be sweet, savory, salty, and totally addicting.

what you’ll need

Ingredients for air fryer carrot fries, each in separate dishes on a countertop
  • Carrots – For two servings, I use four large carrots. Peel the carrots and cut them into long thin pieces, similar to shoestring french fries.
  • Olive Oil – You can use spray olive oil or regular. This will help the carrots crisp up and hold on to the salt and seasonings.
  • Garlic Powder – I love the sweet, mellow garlic flavor that this seasoning gives.
  • Salt – Adjust if needed, but I like my carrot fries to be a little salty. The combination of sweet and salty is addicting.
  • Chopped Parsley – Totally optional, but this makes a beautiful garnish, particularly if you’re serving these carrot fries as a side dish for a fancier dinner.

more seasonings to try

Your fries are a blank canvas! If you want to spice up your air fryer carrot fries a bit more, consider adding a sprinkle of some of these:

  • Smoked Paprika
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • French Fry Seasoning Blend
  • Cumin
  • Cinnamon

serving tips

These crispy carrots make the perfect side dish! They are simply seasoned so they go great with almost everything.

fries come out soggy?

It’s important to ensure that each carrot stick has room around it to let air circulate. If there are too many carrots in the air fryer, they will steam instead of air frying.

Try to keep your carrot fries in a single layer, and be sure to stir them up at least once during cooking.

Are carrots low-carb?

Kinda…Carrots do have carbs and more than green leafy vegetables do. However, carrots have fewer carbs than potatoes, making them a low-er carb alternative that I hope will fit your dietary needs. You can find more Low Carb Air Fryer Recipes here!
