AIR FRYER CABBAGE RECIPE

Just looking at this photo I’m reminded of how delicious those crispy bits of cabbage are! Making cabbage steaks in the air fryer is super simple. Minimal prep, only a few ingredients, and you’re ready to eat air fryer cabbage in just a few minutes.

I love making easy vegetable recipes in my air fryer. You should try Air Fryer Asparagus or Air Fryer Green Beans too. The Air Fryer isn’t only for meats and frozen food.

Making vegetables in the air fryer is very similar to roasting them in a hot oven.

The benefit of roasting veggies like cabbage in the air fryer is that they are ready in half the time. The vented basket of the air fryer allows the liquid from the vegetables to drip away, aiding in that delicious browning that you see.

INGREDIENTS IN AIR FRYER CABBAGE

Cabbage – Regular, inexpensive green cabbage is perfect for this recipe. You could use a purple cabbage as well.

Oil – I like Oil in a spray bottle when I’m using my air fryer. If you don’t have a spray bottle, use a brush to oil your cabbage.

Salt – Season the Cabbage to your own taste.

Pepper – Goes with the salt for this very simply seasoned cabbage.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH AIR FRYER CABBAGE

The great thing about cabbage is that it’s very versatile. You can serve cabbage as a side dish with just about any meat dish. Or you can serve the cabbage as the main dish and serve other vegetarian sides!

Here are a few of my favorite recipes that I’d eat with this cabbage recipe.

Air Fryer Meatloaf can be made with or without actual meat, and goes really well with cabbage.

Air Fryer Brats and cabbage would be a perfect match. Many traditional cabbage dishes include sausage of some kind.

I’d also enjoy this cabbage with Air Fryer Sticky Ginger Chicken.

TIPS FOR AIR FRYING CABBAGE

  • Pay attention to how thick you cut the slices of cabbage. If they are too thick, they may not cook all the way through before getting too brown.
  • Most air fryer baskets will only fit 1 cabbage steak at a time. You’ll need to do a couple of batches to cook a whole cabbage.
  • You can adjust the time on this recipe depending on how crispy or not crispy you like your cabbage.

BEST SEASONINGS FOR CABBAGE STEAKS

I’ve intentionally left this recipe very plainly seasoned, so that you can add your own flavorful spin to it.

Here are some suggestions for seasoning air fryer cabbage differently.

Cajun Seasoning – The little bit of heat in this spice blend would be delicious with roasted cabbage

Steak Seasoning – Make your cabbage steak taste like a real steak!

Garlic Powder and Parmesan Cheese – The cheese will melt and also crisp on top of the cabbage, making a delicious crust.
