Made from Scratch Air Fryer Egg Rolls
There is nothing quite like homemade Air Fryer Egg Rolls. And they’re easier to make than you might think!

- Toasted Sesame Oil: Adds a subtle, nutty richness to the filling. Can substitute with olive or vegetable oil.
- Ground Pork: Traditional for egg rolls, but can be replaced with ground beef, chicken, or omitted for a vegetarian version.
- Coleslaw Mix: A convenient blend of shredded cabbage and carrots. Use 2 cups of cabbage and ยผ cup grated carrot if unavailable.
- Garlic and Ginger: Aromatics that add great flavor; use grated paste or freshly grated if preferred.
- Soy Sauce: Provides a salty, earthy flavor.
- Hoisin Sauce: Adds a rich, smoky flavor that enhances the pork.
- Sweet Chili Sauce: Adds a sweet and spicy kick to the filling.
- Scallions: Provide a fresh, mild onion flavor.
- Egg Roll Wrappers: Essential for wrapping, found in the refrigerated section.
- Egg Wash: Seals the rolls and helps them become golden and crispy.
Steps to make
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the sesame oil. When the oil is fragrant, add the pork, and cook as directed. Make sure to stir the pork and break it into very small pieces as it cooks.
- Next add the coleslaw mix, garlic, and ginger.
- In a small bowl, stir together the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and sweet chili sauce. Add the mixture to the pork and cabbage and stir to combine. Remove the pan from the heat and add the scallions.
- Spray your air fryer basket with olive oil spray, allowing the filling to cool for 5 minutes while you preheat the air fryer to 375ยบF/190ยบC.
- Fill each egg roll wrapper with โ cup of filling. Fold in the corners of the egg roll wrapper so that the filling is covered. Then fold the bottom up to cover the filling as well. Gently roll from bottom to top.
- Brush the top edge of the egg roll wrapper with the egg wash and press it to seal.
- Place a few eggrolls seam-side down into the preheated air fryer. Brush the tops of the egg rolls lightly with egg wash and then spray them with olive oil spray.ย
- Cook for 8 minutes, then flip the egg rolls and cook them for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Continue cooking the egg rolls in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket. Serve the eggrolls immediately, garnished with green onion and with sweet chili sauce for dipping.ย
Tips for achieving maximum Crispiness
In order to achieve super crispy egg rolls, you first need to make sure you seal the roll properly. We use an egg wash along the edges when sealing to ensure it doesn’t come apart while cooking.
The next tip is don’t overcrowd the basket. Cook the egg rolls in batches if needed.
And the last tip is to flip the egg rolls over halfway through cooking and spray them again with oil.
How to Serve these Eggrolls
We used sweet chili sauce in the pork and cabbage mixture, but it is also a great dipping sauce. Siracha sauce is another good pick for dipping.
As fo serving, Air Fryer Orange Chicken would go well with these egg rolls along with a big pot of Air Fryer Fried Rice. Don’t forget the chopsticks!
Storage Directions
Refrigerator: The egg rolls can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. To reheat, place the eggs rolls in the air fryer at 350ยฐF for 1 minute. Flip the egg rolls over and cook them for 1 more minute, or until completely heated through.
Freezer: Place egg rolls on a baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour. Then transfer the egg rolls to an air tight container and freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, place the egg rolls in the air fryer, spray with oil, and cook for 2-3 minutes at 375ยบF/190ยบC until fully heated through.
