Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Don’t overcrowd your air fryer basket. When you cook these cheesy bites in the air fryer, they’ll expand a bit. Make sure you give them enough space so you can easily pull them apart if they stick together.
- Place the dough balls seam-side down. Some of the cheese might ooze out of these mozzarella bites when you air fry them. To minimize this, place the dough balls in the air fryer seam-side down.
- Use mozzarella string cheese. You can use any type of string cheese, but I think mozzarella combines best with the garlic-parmesan flavors in this recipe.
How to Store Air Fryer Mozzarella Bites
These mozzarella bites are best eaten fresh out of the air fryer—while they’re hot! But, if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
What to Serve with Air Fryer Mozzarella Bites
I love dipping these air fryer mozzarella bites into warm marinara sauce or creamy ranch dressing. They’re great served alongside leftover pizza or homemade pizza.
You can also use them as a side for meat dishes like ribeye or tri-tip. Those flavorful cuts combine magically with these cheesy mozzarella bites and a fresh green salad.

Equipment
Ingredients
- 6 string cheese sticks mozzarella
- 1 can Pillsbury Original Crescent Dough Sheet
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tbsp parsley minced
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated
Instructions
- Cut the string cheese into small, 1-inch pieces. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Remove the crescent dough from the can and roll the dough into a thin sheet. Place 1-2 cheese pieces in the middle of the dough.
- Gently fold the edges of the dough over the cheese. Fold and pinch the edges tightly so the cheese is fully sealed.
- Roll into a ball. Repeat until all the remaining dough and cheese is gone.
- Place the mozzarella bites on an air fryer liner in the air fryer basket.
- Mix half of the melted butter with half of the minced garlic. Lightly brush the tops of the mozzarella bites with the garlic butter mixture.
- Air fry for 8–10 minutes at 375°F (190°C) until the mozzarella bites are puffy and golden brown.
- Remove the mozzarella bites from the air fryer and place them in a large bowl. Mix the remaining butter with parsley and minced garlic. Pour the mixture over the mozzarella bites and gently mix until combined.
- Gently mix in the parmesan cheese until combined.
Notes
- This recipe can be made in an air fryer unit with a basket or an air fryer oven. If you are using an air fryer oven, use the middle rack and choose the “Air Fry” function.
- Check your food as it cooks. Each air fryer runs a bit differently. Make sure to check your food as it’s cooking to learn your air fryer better and avoid over- or undercooking.
