Recipe Overview

These Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies are so fun and easy to make in the air fryer! I love the salty and sweet combination of peanut butter and chocolate in these.

We have an Air Fryer Peanut Butter Cookie recipe too, but this recipe takes it a step further with a sweet chocolate kiss in the middle.

What you’ll need to make these

Hershey's kisses wrapped in silver foil in a pile on the counter.
  • Hershey’s Kisses (unwrapped) – Take a moment to unwrap the kisses before you start baking. You don’t want to be rushed later!
  • All-purpose flour – regular or gluten-free all-purpose flour will work here.
  • Baking soda – This is a must for most cookie recipes!
  • Salt – To bring out the sweetness.
  • Butter softened to room temperature – Take the time to soften the butter!
  • Peanut butter, smooth – You could use a crunchy peanut butter here, just know that the texture will be very different.
  • Brown sugar – If you don’t have brown sugar on hand, you can use white.
  • Sugar – Using both white sugar and brown sugar in cookie recipes gives extra flavor and a slightly soft texture.
  • Egg – Any type of egg will work, large eggs are the best size to use for baking.
  • Milk (dairy or non-dairy) – Any kind of milk you have will work fine here.

Directions to make

Photo collage. 6 steps for making peanut butter blossom cookies.
  1. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.  Set aside.
  2. In another bowl, mix together the softened butter and peanut butter.  It may be helpful to use an electric mixer. Then add in the sugars and mix until well combined.
  3. Next, add in the egg and milk. Mix well to combine. Slowly add the flour mixture in small increments. Mix until just combined. Be sure not to over-mix.
  4. Roll about a tablespoon of the cookie dough into a ball. Then gently use your hands to flatten the cookies slightly. Put the cookies into the air fryer basket or air fryer tray. Air Fry the cookies as directed in the recipe below. Very carefully remove the cookies from the air fryer.
  5. Gently press an unwrapped kiss into the center of the cookie. The cookie will be delicate and still pliable. Use your fingers to mold the cookie back around the base of the kiss, if it has spread out.
  6. The cookies need to rest until completely cool. This will help them strengthen.

Note: If the dough seems dry (it might depend on the all-purpose flour you use) you can add in 1-2 T more of milk until you reach the consistency you’d like.

Serving Ideas

These cookies are fantastic on their own as a sweet treat, but would also be gorgeous on a cookie platter for the holidays!

You can also drizzle these cookies with melted white chocolate and then add sprinkles before the chocolate hardens.

Freezing for later?

I suggest freezing these cookies prior to air frying them. Make your dough, and freeze it already rolled into balls.

Freeze the kisses separately, but nearby so that you have them ready to go.

When you are ready to air fry your cookies, thaw the frozen dough balls for a half hour or so, then bake as directed.

Variation to try

  • Roll the dough in sugar before baking.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon to that sugar for a bit of warmth.
  • Swap out the milk chocolate kisses for dark chocolate, or any of the many variations of kisses available.
