With your air fryer, you can have Korean beef short ribs ready in half the time that it would take to bake or grill them.

Actually, you can make many restaurant-worthy dishes in the air fryer like Air Fryer Boneless Wings and even Air Fryer Tuna Steaks.

What You’ll Need

  • Beef Short Ribs – The beef ribs shown here are English-style short ribs. They are bone-in ribs where the meat sits on top of the bone, which makes the bones easy to remove after cooking. 2-3 pounds is the right amount to go with this marinade.
  • Tamari or Soy Sauce – Use tamari to make this recipe gluten-free. Soy or tamari gives us the main flavor for the Korean rib marinade.
  • Brown Sugar – Mixed with the soy sauce to give that salty/sweet flavor balance.
  • Olive Oil – Oil in the marinade adds moisture to make the air fryer short ribs nice and tender. Plus it will keep them from sticking to the air fryer basket.
  • Garlic – Use freshly minced garlic for the most punch.
  • Salt and Pepper – To ensure that the ribs are well seasoned.
  • Red Pepper Flakes – These give a bit of heat. You can leave these off, but they make these ribs taste like what you’d get at a restaurant.
  • Fresh Parsley – Chop this up and add it just before serving.

How to Make Them

  1. Use paper towels to pat the ribs dry and place them in a bowl.
  2. Add the tamari (or soy sauce), brown sugar, olive oil, garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to another bowl and stir to combine. Pour the mixture over the short ribs and mix until the meat is covered. Let marinate for at least 2 hours, and up to 8 hours.
  3. Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 360°F/180°C. Place the beef short ribs in the air fryer basket with the meaty portion facing down. Don’t overfill the basket. You may need to do two batches.
  4. Cook for 10 minutes, then flip over and brush with leftover marinade.
  5. Cook for an additional 10 or 15 minutes, or until the ribs reach an internal temperature of about 190°F/88°C.
  6. Let the ribs rest for 5 minutes before serving, topped with a garnish of fresh parsley.

Delicious!! Recipe cooked my short ribs at medium temperature in my air fryer. I cooked for an additional 8 mins at 400 degrees to reach medium well/well done temperature (for those who don’t do pink). Super yummy on a bed of coconut jasmine rice.
