AIR FRYER FROZEN SPRING ROLLS

Frozen spring rolls in the air fryer are so simple, quick, and yummy!

With just a quick spritz of oil, you will have hot, crispy air fryer spring rolls that are just as good as deep fried, but with less grease, less mess, and less time needed to cook them.

Sure, you can cook frozen spring rolls in the oven, but who has time for that? Cooking frozen food in the oven requires preheating, which means that these frozen spring rolls will take at least twice as long using the oven as they will in the air fryer.

I rarely cook frozen appetizers like popcorn chicken, frozen potstickers, and frozen mozzarella sticks any other way than straight from the freezer to my air fryer basket.

The air fryer is the fastest way to cook frozen spring rolls, and frozen egg rolls too! Let me show you exactly how.

INGREDIENTS FOR FROZEN SPRING ROLLS IN AIR FRYER

Frozen Spring Rolls – I found these delicious frozen spring rolls at Target, and they’re very close to the deep-fried spring rolls from my favorite Thai restaurant! You can use these air fryer instructions to make any brand or flavor of frozen spring rolls you enjoy.

Cooking Oil Spray – In order to make the spring roll wrappers super crispy, you’ll want to spray them with oil. I like to use avocado oil spray, but any type of cooking spray will do. You can also put your favorite cooking oil into an oil mister.

HOW TO MAKE FROZEN SPRING ROLLS IN AIR FRYER

  1. Add the frozen spring rolls to the air fryer. The package I’m making has 5 rolls in it, which fit wonderfully in my Cosori air fryer. You can make more or less, just be sure that the spring rolls aren’t touching each other.
  2. Spray with oil. Coat the tops of the spring rolls with cooking spray.
  3. Air fry. Follow the specific instructions in the recipe below to air fry the spring rolls. Flip them over halfway through, and cook until they are golden brown.
  4. Serve. Be sure to have some dipping sauce on hand for your air fryer snack! My spring rolls came with a sauce packet right in the box, but otherwise, I usually use sweet and sour sauce or homemade sweet and spicy sriracha sauce.

These numbered steps match the numbered photos above and are for illustration purposes. For the complete list of ingredients and instructions for cooking frozen spring rolls in the air fryer (including the exact temperature and time), please see the recipe below.

WHAT TO SERVE WITH AIR FRYER FROZEN SPRING ROLLS

Frozen spring rolls make a great appetizer or snack, but you can also serve them as part of a delicious Chinese takeout inspired meal.

Air Fryer Fried Rice and Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken are two of my go-to Asian meals to make in the air fryer.

I know you’ll love my recipe for Air Fryer Chicken Katsu too – it’s just like they make it at my favorite Japanese restaurant.

CAN I COOK SMALL FROZEN SPRING ROLLS IN THE AIR FRYER?

Yes, you can! The spring rolls I’m making here are full-sized ones, but small ones will cook the exact same in the air fryer. You will want to keep an eye on them though, as they will likely be finished a few minutes early.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE OIL SPRAY?

If you don’t have any oil in a spray bottle, you have two options.

First, you can use a basting brush to cover the spring rolls with neutral-flavored oil, like canola or avocado oil.

Or, you can skip the oil. The spring rolls will still be crispy without it, but just lacking that bit of oiliness that makes them feel like you deep-fried them.

DO I NEED TO PREHEAT THE AIR FRYER?

No, You don’t need to preheat the air fryer to make frozen spring rolls. I tested this recipe with and without preheating, and that extra step didn’t make a bit of a difference!

WHY AREN’T MY FROZEN SPRING ROLLS COOKED THROUGH?

There are a few reasons that your air fryer spring rolls could be undercooked.

  • Did you over-crowd the basket? Next time, be sure that each spring roll has plenty of space around it, and that you aren’t sticking them on top of each other.
  • Did you flip the spring rolls over? It’s important to turn them halfway through the cooking time so that they cook evenly.
  • Otherwise, you should probably just cook them a bit longer. All air fryers are different, so for all of our air fryer recipes, you may need to add or reduce the time to get your food cooked perfectly.

STORAGE TIPS

Once you’ve cooked frozen spring rolls in the air fryer, I suggest that you eat them right away. Spring rolls don’t store very well, and taste best when they’re freshly air fried.

In the case that there are leftovers, you can keep them in the fridge for 1-2 days. Reheat them in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-4 minutes, or until warmed through.
