BAKED POTATO NINJA FOODI RECIPE

Have you been wondering how to make the perfect baked potato?

Do you typically make them in the microwave or the oven, and you just aren’t thrilled with the results?

It’s ok. You just haven’t tried the best ever way to cook baked potatoes yet! Spoiler Alert: It’s Air Frying!

Ninja Foodi Baked Potato is cooked in the air fryer in about the same amount of time that it takes to bake them, but you won’t have to wait 20 minutes for the oven to preheat, and you won’t have to heat up your whole kitchen just to make some potatoes.

I love using the Ninja Foodi to make baked potatoes in the hot summer months to save energy, but truthfully, I make them this way all year long now. They just taste better.

These Ninja Foodi Baked Potatoes are so fluffy! The flesh of the potato just melts in your mouth and is the perfect blank canvas for all of your favorite baked potato toppings.

INGREDIENTS FOR BAKED POTATO IN NINJA FOODI

Russet Potatoes – You should be able to fit 3 large russet potatoes in your Ninja Foodi air fryer basket. I don’t suggest doing more than will fit in a single layer. Russets make the best jacket potatoes/baked potatoes.

Optional Seasonings and Toppings: For me, butter, sour cream, salt, and pepper are a must on a baked potato. You might also want to add chives, other herbs, or cheese.

Optional Oil: If you want to get really crispy skin on your baked potato, rub the skin with olive oil before air frying.

HOW TO MAKE NINJA FOODI BAKED POTATO

  1. Pick out your potatoes, and be sure to scrub them well so that all the dirt is removed. Take a fork and pierce holes all over all sides of each potato.
  2. Preheat the Ninja Foodi Air Fryer for 5 minutes at 400°F/200°C. Then place the potatoes in the basket.
  3. Cook on the air fryer setting for about 45 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender inside. You can check by sticking one with a knife. If there’s no resistance, the potato is ready.
  4. Remove the potatoes from the air fryer, cut them in half lengthwise, and use a fork to fluff up the potato. Enjoy with your favorite toppings!

These numbered steps match the numbered photos above and are for illustration purposes. For the complete list of ingredients and instructions, please see the recipe below.

NINJA FOODI BAKED POTATO TIPS

This recipe is really simple. Don’t try to make it complicated. Just toss those potatoes in the Ninja Foodi and let it do the work!

Don’t forget to put holes in the potatoes! They can sort of explode if too much pressure builds up inside of them and can’t escape. Plus, if the air can’t get out, you won’t get the fluffy, soft potatoes that you’re looking for.

Preheating is recommended. But, if you forget, it’s probably fine. The cooking time on this recipe is long enough that the air fryer will heat up to temperature in the first few minutes of cooking.

Add some oil. While it’s not necessary, a light coating of oil on the outside of the potato skins will make the skins extra crispy and delicious.

Check for doneness. Use a knife to poke the potatoes to be sure that they’re done before you remove them from the air fryer.

Baked Potatoes are the ultimate simple side dish! Try any of these meaty Ninja Foodi dishes with your potatoes.

Most of them only take a few minutes in the Ninja, so you can cook the potatoes first and keep them warm while you cook the entre.

A Steak in the Ninja Foodi is perfectly cooked in about 12 minutes. Steak and Potatoes is a classic pairing that will never get old.

If you prefer chicken, learn to make juicy chicken breast in the Ninja Foodi instead. You can season these however you like, or use the lemon pepper seasoning we share!

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BAKE A POTATO IN A NINJA FOODI?

Using the air fry function on the Ninja Foodi, it should take about 45 minutes to cook a baked potato at 400°F/200°C. The time can vary based on the size of the potatoes, so adjust it if yours are particularly large or smaller than usual.

HOW DO I MAKE THE SKIN ON BAKED POTATOES CRISPY?

All it takes is a little bit of oil sprayed or brushed on the outside of the potatoes to make them super crispy. I usually use olive oil or avocado oil, then sprinkle with salt before air frying.

You can use the crispy outsides of the baked potatoes to make Air Fryer Cheesy Potato Skins!

IS IT BETTER TO AIR FRY POTATOES OR PRESSURE COOK THEM?

The best thing about the Ninja Foodi multicooker is that you have many options when it comes to HOW you cook your food.

I primarily use it as an air fryer, but it does pressure cook as well, just like an Instant Pot.

Pressure cooking baked potatoes can be done in the Ninja Foodi. Recipes that I’ve seen for this method seem to take around 15-20 minutes to cook, and then at least a 10 minute pressure release. Add in the time that it takes the machine to reach pressure, and it probably takes 45 minutes to pressure cook baked potatoes in the Foodi.

That’s exactly the same amount of time it takes to Air Fry potatoes in the Foodi too!

The benefits of air frying baked potatoes make it the obvious best choice for me.

Air Fryer Baked potatoes have crispy skins that could never be accomplished in the wet environment that pressure cooking creates.

Plus you don’t have to pay attention to them as much, since they cook for the whole time in the air fryer rather than the stop/start/wait process of the instant pot.

Long Story Short: Air Fry those baked potatoes in your Ninja Foodi. You’ll be so glad you did!
