Air Fryer Lamb Chops are cooked perfectly in under 10 minutes. These lamb chops are perfectly seasoned with a flavorful marinade and make an impressive dinner for your family or guests.
recipe overview
Lamb chops are an underrated meat for sure. I think that most people probably don’t eat lamb very often. This is likely because it’s on the expensive side, and we just don’t really know how to cook it properly.
However, making them in the air fryer simplifies the process! They cook up similar to how you’d make Steak in the air fryer.
Seasoned with a savory marinade, brown and delicious on the outside, and cooked to your preference on the inside, you’ll be hooked on air fryer lamb chops after you’ve made this dish once.
ingredients you’ll need
- Lamb Chops – You can choose, or ask your butcher for, 1-inch thick chops cut from either the leg, loin, or rib.
- Olive Oil – The marinade for the chops starts with olive oil to add richness.
- Red Wine Vinegar – Adds a savory, tangy note, and starts tenderizing the meat.
- Garlic – Minced fresh garlic goes so well with meats.
- Rosemary – Fresh rosemary is the star of this flavorful marinade.
- Kosher Salt – Adds the perfect amount of seasoning to the meat.
- Black Pepper – I like to grind this fresh to give a small bit of heat.

doneness temps
Cooking lamb chops is similar to cooking steak. The internal temperature determines the doneness of the meat.
Use a meat thermometer to test your chops toward the end of cooking.
- 125F is a rare lamb chop.
- 135F is medium-rare.
- 145F will be medium
- 150-160F will be medium-well to well-done
what to serve with lamp chops
Lambchops can be a quick and easy weeknight meal or a fancy dish for a holiday. This strong flavored meat calls for simple side dishes like vegetables and potatoes so that it can really shine.
Try a potato side like Air Fryer Baked Potatoes or Mashed Potatoes for simplicity.
Air Fryer Broccoli or Air Fryer Asparagus would be delicious as well.
are lamb chops gamey?
Lamb chops can have a gamey flavor, and that is part of their charm. That strong, earthy flavor is not necessarily a bad thing.
If you prefer lamb with a less gamey flavor, ask for a cut from the leg of the lamb. This will be more expensive than other cuts, but have a milder flavor.
do I need to preheat my air fryer?
Generally, I don’t recommend pre-heating your air fryer because the machine heats up very quickly; quickly enough for most foods.
However…
I DO recommend pre-heating the air fryer for lamb chops.
Why? Because starting with a hot air fryer basket or tray will allow the chops to get a nice browned crust. You’ll hear them sizzle when you put them in.
