This is a quick and easy recipe for air fryer tacos! The secret to these quick tacos is the use of frozen fish sticks! Don’t be swayed by the addition of peaches as a topping! Give it a try, I think you’ll love it!

recipe overview

These air fryer fish tacos are topped with a delicious combination of prepared tomato salsa and diced peaches.

We’re using a shortcut, and making frozen fish sticks rather than cooking fresh fish. This saves time and allows you to focus on toppings instead.

Fruit on fish tacos is delicious! It might sound odd, but I promise that the sweetness of the peaches is the perfect balance to the flavor of the fish and the other ingredients.

Ingredients you’ll need

  • Frozen Fish Sticks – You can use your favorite, but I suggest Gorton’s – they are perfectly crunchy. For 8 small tacos, we’ll use 8 fish sticks.
  • Flour Tortillas – Look for mini or “street taco size” tortillas for these small tacos.
  • Queso – Prepared white queso or “queso blanco” dip adds a creamy, tangy base to these fish tacos.
  • Salsa – You can choose how spicy you want these tacos by the salsa you add. A Mango salsa works well with the peaches or just use your favorite salsa.
  • Salad Greens – Fresh lettuce of any type adds freshness and crunch. Romaine, field greens, or even icebergs will work.
  • Red Bell Pepper – I love the sweet and strong flavor of bell peppers, particularly on tacos.
  • Peaches – Diced peaches, either fresh or frozen are the perfect sweet topping. Mangoes will work too!

what fish sticks work best?

We’ve tried a few, and the favorites are Gorton’s, Van de Kamp, and Trader Joe’s. If you’re going to make fish sticks, I think that looking for good quality is important.

You can also make these air fryer fish tacos with frozen fish fillets, which will be whole pieces of fish rather than minced fish. If you do this, use larger tortillas so that everything will fit.

can you use corn tortillas?

Of course! You can make any substitutions that you’d like with this recipe. Corn tortillas will work just the same as flour ones here.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 8 fish sticks frozen
  • 8 small flour tortillas street taco size
  • 1/2 c white queso cheese
  • 1/2 c Salsa
  • 1 c salad greens
  • 1/3 c red bell pepper diced
  • 1/2 c peaches diced, fresh or frozen

Instructions

  • Add your fish sticks in a single layer to the air fryer. (I have the Dash 6 qt. Air Fryer, which doesn’t require preheating, but if yours does, set to 400℉ to preheat.) Cook for 10 minutes at 400℉, flipping once halfway through cooking.
  • While the fish sticks are cooking, heat the tortillas in the microwave covered with a damp paper towel for 10-12 seconds. This will just slightly warm them, and make them more pliable.
  • Spread some white queso cheese dip on each tortilla. Then add salsa on top of the cheese dip.
  • Place a fish stick on top of the salsa. Then top with some fresh salad greens.
  • Finish with a sprinkle of red bell pepper, and approximately a ½ tbsp of diced peaches. Serve immediately and enjoy!!
